Rene Lopez is of counsel to Pozo-Diaz & Pozo, P.A. and has been in practice for the last 15 years handling the defense of Workers Compensation cases throughout the State of Florida. Mr. Lopez and his firm, Lopez & Morales, P.A., have represented many clients, both insured and self-insured in the areas of Workers Compensation defense and related appellate matters. Mr. Lopez handles his files with an emphasis in ending litigation early on, in a cost-effective manner. He aggressively represents our clients on issues ranging from average weekly wage, attendant care, temporary benefits, impairment ratings, and more complex disputes, such as large permanent total disability, death benefits, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and significant psychiatric claims. The Firm has also successfully litigated the fraud defense, at both the trial and appellate court level, using the recent decisions barring entitlement to all benefits where an employee has secured benefits through fraud.
Mr. Lopez’ undergraduate studies were completed at Florida International University, where he received a Bachelor of Political Science and Psychology. Mr. Lopez then obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University Law School, in May of 1998. Rene was admitted into the Florida Bar in 1999. He is a member of the Dade County Bar Association and a member of The Workers Compensation Committee of the Dade County Bar. Mr. Lopez was a speaker at the 58th Annual Workers Compensation Educational Conference, where he lectured on dealing with difficult cases with regards to exposure and death claims. He has also provided seminars on “Using Employment Issues as a Defense to Workers’ Compensation Claims.”
