Jaime A. Pozo, Esq.

JAIME A. POZO is a native of South Florida and a resident of the City of Coral Gables. In 2010, he joined the firm of Martha Pozo-Diaz, P.A., which was established by his sister in 1991. Upon him joining the firm, it reorganized as Pozo-Diaz & Pozo, P.A. Mr. Pozo joined the firm to diversify its transactional practice and support the needs of its current clients with his extensive litigation experience. Mr. Pozo also continued his practice defending the interest of insurance companies, its insureds and various clients with high self-insured retention in the areas of premises liability, products liability, automobile/fleet/trucking liability, personal injury (defense), construction defects and construction related claims, pre-suit accident investigation, professional liability, ADA and accessibility claims, emergency medicine, workers compensation, including Employer “B” liability claims and co-employment related matters.
Since his admission to the Florida Bar, Mr. Pozo has been trained in handling all aspects of full file responsibility from pre-suit to trial. He has assisted his clients with developing and implementing accident investigation protocols and has conducted hundreds of investigations in both catastrophic and non-catastrophic cases throughout the State of Florida. He has assembled accident investigation teams in all major cities throughout the State and the Southeast United States that are available to respond at any time to any accident. In the past, he was a member of the Litigation Department at Kelley, Kronenberg and was asked by the Managing Partner to make the transition to form Wicker Law Firm, P.A. in 2003. While at Wicker Law Firm, Mr. Pozo managed the firm’s litigation practice throughout the State and developed the firm’s accident investigation team. Mr. Pozo lectures nationally in the areas of fraud, accident investigation, workers compensation, employer liability and litigation practice in Florida.
In 1997, Mr. Pozo obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami. Following his education at the University of Miami, Mr. Pozo attended St. Thomas University School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree with Honors. Mr. Pozo also has served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Linda Dakis and the Honorable Gisella Cardonne-Ely, in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit for Miami-Dade County, Florida. In 2003, Mr. Pozo was appointed to the Dade County Bar Association Judicial Outreach Committee and to the City of Coral Gables Cable Television Board by Commissioner William “Bill” Kerdyk. In 2005, Mr. Pozo completed his term on the Cable Television Board and was appointed to the prestigious Board of Adjustments by Commissioner Rafael “Ralph” Cabrera, where he completed his term in 2009. In 2011, Mr. Pozo was appointed to the City’s Insurance Advisory Board, wherein he served two terms. Mr. Pozo is fluent in Spanish, an important asset to the Firm due to the diverse population of South Florida. He is also a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and the National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association. Mr. Pozo has also earned an AV® Peer Review Rating, which the highest Martindale Hubbell is rating available to an attorney. David Cruz, Esq.

DAVID CRUZ was born in Miami, Florida in 1991. He graduated with his Bachelor’s in English Literature from Florida International University in 2013 and proceeded to enroll into St. Thomas University Law School in 2014. He was given his Juris Doctor degree in May of 2017 and proceeded to pass the bar examination on September 18, 2017.

Aidez Severino, Esq.

Aidez Severino concentrates her practice in the areas of general liability, personal injury, and negligence. Prior to joining Pozo-Diaz & Pozo, Ms. Severino successfully represented insurance carriers in claims arising from windstorm, hurricane, hail, sinkhole, fire, water damage, collapse, and theft. As a representative of the insurance carriers, Ms. Severino handled these matters from inception to completion, including successful settlement of insurance coverage disputes through mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Additionally, she represented clients in estate planning matters, family law issues, carrier contract and landlord tenant disputes.

Ms. Severino is a member of the Broward County Bar Association and Miami-Dade Bar Association. She received her law degree from Florida International University-College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. She was an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta organization, serving as the Treasurer of the pre-law chapter. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Severino worked as a financial adviser and banker while maintaining her Series 7, Series 63, and Life Health & Variable Annuities licenses. Having gained experience in the areas of finance and civil litigation, she now dedicates her undivided attention to the practice of general liability. Ms. Severino’s diversified experience and knowledge allow her to serve as an effective advocate for our clients both in and out of court.

Rene Lopez, Esq.

Rene Lopez is of counsel to Pozo-Diaz & Pozo, P.A. and has been in practice for the last 15 years handling the defense of Workers Compensation cases throughout the State of Florida. Mr. Lopez and his firm, Lopez & Morales, P.A., have represented many clients, both insured and self-insured in the areas of Workers Compensation defense and related appellate matters. Mr. Lopez handles his files with an emphasis in ending litigation early on, in a cost-effective manner. He aggressively represents our clients on issues ranging from average weekly wage, attendant care, temporary benefits, impairment ratings, and more complex disputes, such as large permanent total disability, death benefits, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and significant psychiatric claims. The Firm has also successfully litigated the fraud defense, at both the trial and appellate court level, using the recent decisions barring entitlement to all benefits where an employee has secured benefits through fraud.

Mr. Lopez’ undergraduate studies were completed at Florida International University, where he received a Bachelor of Political Science and Psychology. Mr. Lopez then obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University Law School, in May of 1998. Rene was admitted into the Florida Bar in 1999. He is a member of the Dade County Bar Association and a member of The Workers Compensation Committee of the Dade County Bar. Mr. Lopez was a speaker at the 58th Annual Workers Compensation Educational Conference, where he lectured on dealing with difficult cases with regards to exposure and death claims. He has also provided seminars on “Using Employment Issues as a Defense to Workers’ Compensation Claims.”

Peter A. Miller, Esq.

PETER A. MILLER is of counsel to Pozo-Diaz & Pozo, P.A and has been a trial lawyer since 1975. Mr. Miller is admitted to all District and Appellate Courts in the State of Florida, as well as the United States district courts for the Southern States District and Middle District of Florida. He us also certified as a trial lawyer by the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Miller specializes in general liability defense, religious organization defense, legal malpractice defense, construction litigation defense, products liability defense, E.E.O.C. defense, employment practices defense, long term lessor liability defense and insurance and bad faith defense.

Mr. Miller is a proud member of the Miami Dade County Bar Association, the Florida Bar, Trail Lawyer’s Section, American Arbitration Association, and is the past chairman of Eagle International Associates, Inc.

Allan S. Friedman, Esq.

ALLAN S. FRIEDMAN joined Pozo-Diaz & Pozo, P.A, with over thirty years of experience in handling all aspects of litigation from inception through trial. His areas of concentration include personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, negligent security, premise liability, and product liability. He has litigated cases throughout the state of Florida.   Mr. Friedman’s depth of experience has permitted him to achieve successful results at mediations and arbitrations of the most complex litigation resulting in significant reduction of litigation costs for his clients. Although Mr. Friedman has primarily concentrated his area of practice in insurance defense litigation he also brings with him the experience of representing individuals pursuing claims for personal injury and has utilized this experience for the benefit of his client’s in his insurance defense litigation.

David J. Millheiser, Esq.

David J. Millheiser, is an experienced litigation attorney who is well-versed in all facets of insurance defense litigation.

Mr. Millheiser received his B.A. in Business Management from Clark University (Worcester, MA) and his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University. Peter B. Rowell, Esq.

PETER B. ROWELL joined Pozo-Diaz & Pozo, P.A. in 2017. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, graduating cum laude. Mr. Rowell earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 2005.

Mr. Rowell is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar and represents all parties in the construction industry in legal matters with a particular focus on contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers. Mr. Rowell has significant experience representing contractors and subcontractors in construction defect litigation in Florida’s State Courts. Mr. Rowell further assists construction businesses and owners in the resolution of construction payment disputes, change order issues, and delay claims through negotiation, litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Rowell has first and second chain trial experience, as well as, significant experience in mediation and arbitration.
